PITAHAYA

DESCRIPTION

In Ecuador, two yellow pitahaya ecotypes are grown: “Pichincha” and “Palora”. It is a cactus plant, and as such very resistant to droughts. Its production is concentrated in the Palora canton, province of Morona Santiago, where in 1968 the producer Félix Miguel Zabala found a wild cactus from which a beautiful flower was born, which gave a fruit called “Pitahaya”, and which turned out to be of a pleasant flavor .
